(1) MEMBER EDUCATION PROGRAMME:
Member Education Programmes are conducted to bring direct benefit to the members of the grass root level co-operatives. On the revised Instructions of the Registrar of Co-operative Societies. Chennai the district member education programme committee has been reconstituted in each district co-operative union, comprising of the below mentioned members.

The Committee is monitoring the implementations of the Member Education Programme.
In order to benefit the members of all types of Primary Co-operatives, Member Education classes are conducted during evening hours, every month in the- below mentioned pattern.

Besides the above mentioned pattern of coverage, a programme called "Catch Them young is also conducted on the lines of the member education, for the -benefit of the outgoing dents of the High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools In two different schools by ach Co-operative Development Officer. In a month end such programmes are conducted for nine month in a year. Education classes are conducted by the Co-operative Development officers during evening period at convenience of the beneficiary members. They give detailed lecture about the duties and responsibilities and the rights of the members Act and Rules, by laws, the various services-rendered by the societies, institution lack age, the special features of the deposit schemes and issue of loans by the grass root level co-operative besides the great lectures by the officials of the functional Registrars-about the services rendered by co-operative working under their control. Co-operative films are screened after the awareness class is over. Each district provided with an operator to handle the equipments such as 16 MM film projector, slide projector, Anupam Sound package, and a driver to operate the vehicle for the transportation of the equipments and education team.
At present there are twelve types of documentary film with different' titles in Tamil Language highlighting services rendered by the co-operatives are now screened. In addition to these films, three new films highlighting the importance of the deposit mobilization, issue of loans, by the co-operative banks have been produced for screening to the people.
The Co-operative Development Officers are conducting the education classed to special target groups organized by the Nehru Yuva Kendra and Central Board of workers Education,
Government of India.
(2) PUBLICITY & PROPAGANDA:
The District, Cooperative Union is implementing all type of Publicity end propaganda activities as advised by Tamil Nadu Co-operative. Union 1n Chennai District
Conducting all Programmes about the activities, achievements, of all type of
Co-operative District.
District level Exhibitions are conducted at Chennai every year. The activities and services rendered by co-operatives under various sectors are exhibited with salient features 2fit statistical Information. During the Exhibition film touching upon pa-operative subjects and other social welfare activities are shown. Posters important subject’s matters are printed and distributed to the co-operative institutions for wide publicity at the District level. Attractive photo-foil stickers on co-operative marketing distributed to the public through the societies to boost the Image of co-operative marketing societies.

The guidance of the Tamil Nadu co-operative Union to-create awareness among the people besides elocution and essay competitions among college students.
District level conferences are convened to discuss matters concerning particular sectors, such as an employee’s societies urban co-operative bank, Milk cooperatives, housing co-operatives, Employees co-operative etc, are convened.
The paper advertisements of all co-operative Institutions in Chennai District are released at the DIPR rate through "Chennai Co-operative Publicity" an wing of District Co-operative Union.
